You could always take another approach...install as if it were on Linux...

Download and install all the deps, put them in the system path, place the inksmoto code in the .config/inkscape/ and done.

I finally managed to get Inkscape 0.48.2 with Inksmoto 0.7.0 working on OS X Lion but it says "The fantastic lxml wrapper for libxml2 is required by inkex.py and therefore this extension. Please download and install the latest version from <http://cheeseshop.python.org/pypi/lxml/>, or install it through your package manager by a command like: sudo apt-get install python-lxml". How do i get it and install it on inkscape?

So you didn't finally get it working ;)

You did step one of my recommendations, it is also the step before the one that I'm on. Next step is to install the official python (as most libs require this). Then bring that in the system path. The final step is to go through and install all the different python libraries needed.
